Shoptalk Spring 2025: Content, PR, and On-camera Host

Rebuy invested heavily in its Shoptalk Spring 2025 presence, including a booth at the front entrance.

I attended as part content producer, part PR, and part on-camera host.

Touching down in Las Vegas

I documented my trip from Portland to Las Vegas, and the team shared the clips on social to promote the booth and encourage attendees to visit.

Working the floor

I worked the floor as Rebuy’s de facto PR representative, capturing content throughout. The booth’s visibility and location helped Shoptalk’s content team notice Rebuy. (It was hard not to, given our proximity to the main entrance and the giant lighted logos.) Evan Lucy and his team (representing Shoptalk) interviewed me on camera to talk about Rebuy’s presence at the show.

Two on-stage interviews

I also hosted two out of several on-stage discussions we featured across two days. My first was with James Roberts from Roswell agency, and the other was a last-minute “our interviewer can’t do it, can you?” request with 30 minutes’ notice. I reviewed the questions and jumped in to interview Rebuy cofounder James Van Erck with Hark founder Fran Brzyski. It went well, no trainwrecks!

The case for video

When I’d discovered we weren’t planning to hire a videographer, I pushed to hire one so we could capture the event and gather evergreen video content, sharing a similar project I’d run at Oregon Entrepreneurs Network and explaining the footage would stay useful long after the event ended. That argument won budget from our VP. As a result, our excellent Las Vegas-based freelance videographer Oleksadr (Alex) Kosheliev shot and produced a booth walkthrough, all the on-stage discussions, and plenty of B-roll. The team was so happy with Alex’s work that our event manager Sarah Hatter hired him again to shoot our Momentum event 6 weeks later.

Short-form video series: “This or That”

Where others covering the event asked things like “What has been your favorite part of the event so far?” or “What’s your best takeaway from the event?”, I wanted to do something different. I ended up producing a series of 12 “This or That” short-form videos, which I later repurposed as pre-event promo for our Momentum event 6 weeks later. (And would feature a special cameo by Patrick Schwarzenegger.) To me, Shoptalk, This or That, and Momentum are like a content trilogy.
